A Few Word About Us
The ABS is a Co-operative of Organizations taking basketball in Ontario to the next level. The ABS Amateur Basketball Syndicate is a Not--for-profit initiative created through high level organizational talks.
ABS, the Amateur Basketball Syndicate, Canada’s largest competitive youth boys’ basketball league, plans its first season of play in the 2012-2013 season. In September cities from across the GTA and beyond including Mississauga,Brampton, Vaughan, Scarborough, Hamilton, Durham, and Kitchener/Waterloo with support from Oakville and Toronto took part in a meeting of core member franchises to discuss a formal league creation. The hope was to revitalize youth basketball in order to take basketball in Ontario to the next level. The league format was the start of a plan to provide an opportunity to a traditionally underserviced boys basketball constituency with the chance to compete in the starting of a Province-wide league.

More Information on the ABS LeagueIn this first season ABS will produce for each weekend of competition news, updates, standings, current schedule and any important information required. Information including the complete schedule, rosters, and league information will be found on the ABS website. In the first season teams will play 14 League games followed by a May Madness NCAA style playoff format. Games will be 32 minutes in duration. This will put an importance on game preparation, conditioning and deeper benches. The League play will be hosted in Oakville and Mississauga starting in Season One commencing Saturday November 10th. Sheridan College along with Noel Holness have stepped up this year and will be ABS’s main site affording us a great facility to host the best male talent in the Province. Additionally Jason Payne of the Peel District School Board has been instrumental in supporting the league in Mississauga. The “May Madness” will be similar to the NCAA March Madness format. The ABS league is looking to have “May Madness” held at the Main Professional Facility at the Hershey Center along with Sheridan College which will run the month of May.
